Air freight is the process of
transporting cargo on cargo airplanes.
Air freight cargo is generally packaged
in boxes, pallets, or any other standard acceptable containers much like less-than-container-load (LCL) in
sea freight. The cargo will also consolidate with other cargos to fill up the
aircraft.
Air freight is designated as a port-to-port transport; port of origin (POL) is an airport where the cargo is transported to and then loaded onto the cargo aircraft, and the port of destination (POD) is an airport where the cargo is unloaded upon the aircraft arrival and then delivered to the final destination.
